John O’Neill is a UK artist based in the Space 2.0 studio Stavanger, Norway. He sketches in watercolour in the outdoors and often sets up a french easel with a canvas in the harsh conditions typical of the Rogaland weather. Southwest Norway offers lots of wind, hail, rain and sometimes snow. Brushes regularly freeze, paintboxes overflow with rain and loose items must be guarded from the wind taking them flying into the distance. Equally there are bright, sunny and warm days with big skies and beautiful summery smells in the air.
