As a British-born artist living in Gloucestershire, I’m surrounded by some of the most natural and inspiring surroundings in the UK, well-placed to benefit from a huge variety of light, texture, and drama – perfect for what I do. I usually begin by sensing the subject, sometimes using a photo or a sketch to extract weather, light, horizons and shapes to commit the scene to canvas with a variety of media and paint
Alan was born in London but brought up and educated in Guildford. He attended Guildford School of Art in the 1960’s where he studied Fine Art and ceramics and won the Thames and Hudson prize for painting. He works alone producing sculptures in high fired stoneware.
Kerry is a wildlife artist with a twist. Married to a South African, she has spent a lot of time in Southern Africa and the colours of the place and people in that part of the world have influenced her style. Her animal portraits are vibrant and full of energy and bring a sense of happiness and joy.
My current series of works is inspired by the tropical fish we keep, my love of colour, inks, of printmaking and sometimes mixing them all up together. The methods I employ to produce these many layered works is as fluid and interesting as the fish we look after.
