Large surfing waves of Devon and Cornwall’s coastline inspire her work. Another series explores the patterns and play of light created when the sunlight hits shallow turquoise water.

Original oil on canvas painting. Width 102cm x Height 76cm or 40 x 30 inches. Signed. Framed in a white – washed wooden frame. With a certificate of authenticity.
Emerald Waves II is inspired by the coastline of South Devon and Cornwall. It shows a large wave cresting, lit by the sun turning the water emerald green and with deep blue shadows. It is midday the sea is a dark a mixture of deep turquoise, marine blue and viridian green. There are whispy clouds in the sky and and white foam detail in the foreground.
Owing to its location, jutting straight out into the Atlantic Ocean, Cornwall is a magnet for swell. Combine this with its milder climate and a host of great beaches and you have the UK’s surf capital.
I like to work in oils because of their versatility. You can layer the paint so that it has a translucency. Also It is so robust a medium I can scrape the paint back or scratch into it too. This is another in my series of wave paintings which I started over many years ago.
I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2008 at the University of Plymouth. My exhibitions have been throughout Devon and one of my films was been exhibited at the South Bank, London and in Italy. I am a Teignmouth based artist.
In conclusion, I am a member of the Devon Artist Network and a Geopark Ambassador Artist for the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.
