Description

Turquoise Wave VI limited edition giclée fine art print is available in 2 sizes on Hahnemüle Pearl paper. Signed and numbered. Free UK postage.

Turquoise Wave VI is one in a series of wave paintings numbering over 50 now. The beaches of the South Devon coastline and Cornwall have inspired this painting. I love taking long walks there, a particular favourite is Perranporth beach in North Cornwall. This giclée fine art print is available in 3 sizes on Hahnemüle Pearl paper and is reproduced from the original painting.

The original painting has lots of texture to it with layers and layers of paint, both translucent and opaque. I hope to make the view feel immersed in the image as though they were in the sea. I like to paint in oils because of their flexibility to alter the image whilst working and their depth of field achieved with the layering of paint. My work is inspired by the sea with its ever changing shapes and hues.

Hahnemüle Pearl

has a smooth orange peel texture and a bright neutral white base. It creates really natural black and white images and offers vibrant colour reproduction and great detail too. The paper is resin coated with a fibrous feel. The satin finish of the resin coating gives depth to the image; which combined with the texture and vibrant colour reproduction give the image the feel of an oil painting. This is one of the most suitable of the Giclée Art Paper range for mounting.

The word Giclée (“g-clay”),

is derived from the French verb gicler meaning “to squirt or spray”. Giclee, is used to describe a fine art digital printing process combining pigment based inks with high quality archival quality paper; to achieve Giclée prints of superior archival quality, light fastness and stability.

I am a Teignmouth based artist and live close to the ocean and Dartmoor. This proximity to the South West Coast and the wild untamed landscape of the moor has influenced my recent work. Water is an ever-changing element that I find fascinating. In my oil paintings I aim to invoke an immersive feeling. I want to highlight the rapidly shifting colours of water from deep blue almost black to pale green nearly white. Following the initial painting and drying process I may apply glazes of oil paint to further enrich the surface of my work. I often return to the work of Kurt Jackson and Peter Doig for inspiration and a sense of place.

I am a member of the Devon Artist Network and a Geopark Ambassador Artist for the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.
