Rajan Dey, known as Raj in his friend circle, is an Electrical and Electronics engineer by education, IT consultant by profession but an artist by passion. It is not accident that he is an artist but is a transformation from hobby into profession. Raj had been painting in various mediums like watercolor, acrylic, oil and pastel since the age of 5. With no family background of art, he is a self-taught artist. His early interest in art was nurtured during his school days where he had earned several accolades, which continued and hopefully will continue for years to go. He has partaken in many exhibitions and art competitions, had won majority of them, which is a significant motivational drive for him. His artwork is loved by many and he wants them loved my more. His artworks are available on many online galleries and with several art collectors all over the world. His favorite subjects are cityscapes, landscapes, seascapes, birds, animals and flowers.

This painting had won me the GOLD award for 2020 International watercolor painting competition organized by BAG. This is a fantastic piece of beautiful, ORIGINAL watercolor painting of sacred Varanasi temples along the river bank of Ganga where locals are seen bathing before offering prayers during early morning hours. This painting was painted on quarter imperial artist quality Saunders Waterford 300 gsm paper using premium quality watercolor paints from various brands like Windsor&Newton, Sennelier, Van Gogh.
Varanasi is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh dating to the 11th century B.C. Regarded as the spiritual capital of India, the city draws Hindu pilgrims who bathe in the Ganges River’s sacred waters and perform funeral rites. Along the city’s winding streets are some 2,000 temples, including Kashi Vishwanath, the “Golden Temple,” dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
