Workshops

Each fair has a workshop corner and at Reading this year it is entitled Making TIme.

Jelly artists Lisa-Marie Gibbs and Mirren Kessling are inviting the people of Reading to make a pledge to nurture their own creativity.

Starting at Contemporary Art Fairs – Reading  with models and figures made by the artists from recycled materials they will run workshops which offer participants the opportunity to create figures which symbolizes the power of their own creativity with a message to the future.

This one-off special project is a celebration of the Silver Jubilee of Reading Arts Charity Jelly. The works made by artists and participants will become a time capsule, marking the past but leading Jelly and it’s artists to the future, to be opened up when the arts charity turns 50 for a new generation of artists. A message to keep creativity at the heart of the city.

The workshops are free and drop in sessions will be running over the whole weekend.

Interactive Art

With Este MacLeod

Join in the fun, come and draw or paint on a large interactive artwork. Este MacLeod will be guiding the creative process using letters and printing as the inspiration. Tieing in with Earth Day the theme will be Fabulous Fish. Visitors will draw and paint fish from letters and then decorate them with colours and printed shapes and patterns. The project will emerge over the three days of the event, including Friday’s Private view.

Children’s Art Quest

Young visitors to the fair can show us just how much they know about art (probably more than mum and dad) by filling out a questionnaire about art techniques and artists exhibiting at the fair.

Of course there will be prizes- Loxley Colour mini canvas and easel
